A year ago I met with my now teammate Vanessa and she introduced me to this crazy CTAPP world. I still remember sitting on my couch and thinking ‘this is nuts, I can’t ride to Austin’ Now look. It’s a little crazy just how unplanned everything is. You just can’t plan things like this. We don’t know where each team will be when. For someone like me undertaking a massive bike ride without specific plans is just plan crazy. I am told that there is method to the madness, that it will all make sense between now and Austin. All I need to do is ensure that my bike works and I have a pair of ear plugs to survive the van drives. My team sorta feels like its gelling and I feel like we will really get it together in time. I know I’m going to have a serious case of CTAPP withdrawl syndrome. Fortunately when I get back Ironman training will slowly start entering from the preferial and start being something that I’m actually doing, instead just something I tell people I’m doing. I still have approximately 10 trillion things to get done between now and then. I need some warmer gear, a new ipod (as my current one only have 2 hours of listening pleasure and with that many hours on the road I’ll need a little escape from boy talk. I have all of my sponsorship duties to fulfill between now and the 3rd and I have to work with Scotty to make sure all my logistic boxes and checked off. I need to make a list to make sure I don’t forget something very important like my helmet or my shoes. I need a new rear light and I really have to start thinking about what food I need to bring down. I have a feeling that surviving on power bars and middle-American restaurant food just won’t cut it for me.
At the meeting, you could see everyone breaking into their group of six. Talking about team rides and who’s bring the beer and the cooler (essential items). It will be weird that other then transitions I won’t see anyone but my team for the eight days. I’ll miss the rest of them. But Bee Cave will be a great arrival party and hearing the tales from the rode will make up for it.

Cool. You can borrow my iPod if you like (8MB). I'd be okay without it for a couple weeks.
