Highline 100

So this weekend was suppose to be my first centurion. Alas it was not quite meant to be. It was a successful weekend for many reasons. I kept pace with the fast kids for over 100km which to me is HUGE. I thought for sure that the last I would see of them was the decent from the mountain. (I had brought Igby the ipod just in case) But I hung on to the wheels and was pulled down to the boarder.

First, descending in 3 degrees without a warm up is very unpleasant. I would not recommend it. Riding though fog and such also very unpleasant. I did not enjoy.

But crossing the boarder on my bike was a very cool first. Learning that I can ride with the fast kids was also a great shot to my badly bruised ego, being told just how far I have come in my biking was also great to hear.

Not being able to get my toes back into my bike shoes, not cool. For the brave there is a picture below of what cycling and running have done to my poor feet. It's not pretty. So I stopped at the 100km mark and let my stronger cyclists carry on while I sat by Lake Koocanusa with Igby (see above) and let the sounds of Stars take me to a happier place.

But with a very cool cycling vest, more food then I could handle and a great atmosphere it is definitely an event I'll be back for next year. Centurion you are going down.

I love the pictures of all the bikes against the store/restaurant - the bikers take over! Awesome...
