Forensic specialists in Minneapolis used the serial number of an iPod owned by a bicyclist killed in a traffic accident to trace the identity of the victim.
The rider was smacked by a school bus Thursday morning. He was carrying no identification, so the coroner was in a pickle until he thought of the deceased's iPod. A trip to the nearest Apple store, a few calls to Apple security, and the device was indentified as being registered to the late Adam Ray Finley.
