Sad Day

Today I had to send an email formally giving up my spot on the 2008 Cancervive ride. I had known since we left for Austin that I wasn't going to be able to ride in 2008. They will be changing the route and going to the Livestrong Phildelipha and it will be in August and Ironman is the last weekend in August I had to step back.

It was really hard for me to send that email. I would love more then anything to ride across Canada take a ferry to the US and run up those famous steps in Philly with the team. Unfortunately (or fortunately the vote is still out) I have decided to be a Ironman and this is my first lesson in what I'm sure will be many in sacrafice for this goal. I'll still be active on the new non-board Steering Committee thing. Some of us on the various steering committees decided that we still want a monthly meeting mostly just to keep seeing each other. But perhaps at pub on a week night. (don't tell my IM coach)

It has been an amazing experience. One that I still haven't been able to sit down and write about and explain just how much this year meant to me. I know that year's from now I will be able to look back and know that this was the year that changed everything. My life will forever be divided into BCK and ACK (I'll give you extra points if you can figure out those acronmys)
