Friday
Greg will find it funny that yet again (after I begged him for Friday nights off) I was fast asleep by 9pm. It was very difficult to walk past a very packed Ship and Anchor patio. That's what I love most about Calgarians their abilily to completely enjoy some early spring weather with gusto! I made a Turkey meatloaf with curry that was awesome and fell asleep full and happy.
Saturday
Now here's where things deviate from the IGP. I was suppose to do my swim set Saturday but I wanted to go to the TCR/Cancervive spin-o-thon so I switched my workouts. Also, instead of riding for 105 and a 20 min run. I spun for 3 hours (in zone two, keeping my cadence above 95rpms) and then went for a half hour brick! I was having too much fun chatting on the bike, I was next to some Critical Speed guys and I got some good tips for IMC. Like bring your own marker and mark each other up or risk missing the swim start and the big one was just to have fun. I'll try to remember that when I'm heading up Yellow Lake! I did some drills to keep myself entertained, I think I kept going to avoid the brick. I finally did get off and 2.5min transition and ran around the university campus. Such a beautiful spring day!
I raced home from there to make it for the 'suprise' part of a friends party and then raced to Speed Theory for the Bike Workshop. I was happy because it seemed like I might sorta know something! I'm always way behind the curve on bike knowledge but I knew what was up. It was a nice ego boost. Plus, I got some good material from Dale the mechanic at Speed Theory on Greg to harass him about!!! Who can't put on their own pedals? Nice tan Greg!
Sunday
Here's where things get a little fuzzy. I went back to join my friend's suprise party and somehow ended up making it home around 3am. (which thanks to the time change was actaully 4am!!) EEEEEEEEPPPPPPP I can't remember the last time I was up that late, so I totally redeemed myself for Friday nights lame out! There was karokee Keith! Also, dancing that's an endurance workout right?
Anyways, after I peeled myself off the couch around 2pm I did make it to Talismen for my weights and swim. I was sooooooo sleepy but because it was my own fault I had no choice to finish the entire workout! I didn't make it to Susi's arm shaking level but I did feel worked over. I got into the pool and sat on the edge for a good 2 minutes before I gave myself a push into the water. I started and didn't think I was going to make it the whole 6 sets of 300m. I floated around the pool and gave myself the lecture very similar to Susi's though it involved more 'well if you're going to be stupid and dance until 3am this is the payback' and 'just get your ars in gear and move!!' So I decided I wasn't going to watch my split times and just swim focusing on stroke and enjoy the water! And it worked! I made it through the whole workout and could have kept on swimming. I opted to skip the hot tub (please note the correct spelling this time ladies, dirty minds!!) for fear I would fall asleep.
All in all a great weekend. Though I completely avoided the house work I had to do and will now have to either buy new underwear or suck it up and do my laundry tonight!
