Ouch!

Another Wendesday o' pain.

I woke up for Syl's swim class and she took it pretty easy on us. This week we're working on extensions which means doggy paddling! I didn't realize how exhausting and completely inefficent it is to doggy paddle! No wonder I was always so tired before. I'd guess somewhere around 1500m ish swam before work.

I spent most of the day trying to eat and be prepared for some serious pain in spin class. We're in hills now and it hurts a lot. We did our warm up and somehow I managed to stay up front. The threshold drills, I just about died. This involves keeping your watts at 110% which for me means around 220-230. Everytime I push too hard on the first interverl and end up trying to catch my breath on the 3 and fourth.

The real torture test was Richter's Pass. Which simulated the actual hill I will go up in Pentiction. We did the first 11km up Richter and it ain't easy folks. I was thinking around the 5km It's going to feel exactly like this only worse because there is heat and wind and 120 km to go after that, and then the run. The good news is that I made it. I kept my watts around 180 and it took my just under 30 minutes to make it.

I had my celebratory beer with the boys and was told if I kept beating them I would have to buy the beer!
