Party like a triathlete

So I begged Greg for Friday nights off. Stating 'I'm a single gal, I need to be able to go out and hang out with friends' so this Friday was my first night off. How did I spend it? Dancing 'til 2 at HiFi? Decadent dinner at Cilantro's perhaps? Burger and pints of Traditional at The Ship? I decided to play it low key since I was exhausted from the previous week and stayed in and grabbed a movie, it was freakin' cold after all. While this may seem a little lame it pales in what happens next. After making dinner and settling in with a bowl of popcorn and the latest Bourne, I didn't even make it through the movie and was fast asleep by 8:30!

10 hours of sleep later I was wide awake for meeting Greg for a swim. See now I think that my swim is going well and I'm feeling huge improvements then I went swimming with Greg. warm up and 3 400m sets and a cool down later my ass was handed to me. Things went a little differently for Greg. After some hot tub time and some coaching tips that mostly went like this

Me: But my run is still too slow
Greg: It's only February, there is still lots of time!
Me: But I'm getting passed on the pathways and I don't like it
Greg: Lots of time left, don't worry.
Me: But I want to be faster and it's taking forever!
Greg: You have months to go before you have to worry about this.

ad nauseum

Greg left to brave the cold while I braved the smelly change room and teenage girls and went for my easy run and some weights. I hadn't run on the track before and it was a lot of fun despite the 7 year old's running around.

I went to a appetizer party that night, there were quite a few triathlete's and runners going. It was fun to chat with others and hear how they are managing to balance training and having a social life and sleeping 10 hours! I entered into a conversation with some girls talking about her new bike she had purchased that day at Speed Theory and how cute they thought the sales guy was. Turns out it was Greg! Thought you might enjoy that one, Greg!

After getting home after 1am (turns out triathlete's do party) I thought Sunday would be a lazy day but as soon as I turned on the Ironman Kona DVD's Greg loaned me I was threw on my gear and hopped on the bike for a quick hour with drills and 3 sets of 5min upper zone 2, 5min lower zone 2. Then rushed out the door to make it to yoga.

All in all a great weekend of training, I always say that when it's the first week in the build!
