Weekend Wrap Up

So without a IG schedule I was left to my own devices for the weekend. Somehow I knew that IG's plan would include the following:

- Pain
- Short bursts of pain
- followed by long extended periods of pain.

Saturday I decided to make up for my missed swim, I went for a ez 60min run in the morning. Followed by buying a dishwasher and new carpets, repairing my leaky sink and fixing my continues to run toilet. Who needs a Father when you have a wrench and a visa card!

After all that I crashed on the couch for a good hour before I could talk myself into getting up and into the pool. I had hoped at the start of the day to do some weights and core in before swimming but my errands and to-do list took me longer then I thought.

Now the important thing to note at the start of the story is that previously to this I was swimming 100m in 2 minutes. Never changing from the 2min mark. For months I would check the clock and would be dead on 2 minutes. I did 400m warm up and into the set of 10x100m with 15 seconds rest

Off the start I was at 1:50. Being a little shocked I thought it was a fluke or I had miss read the time when I pushed off. But the second attempt was also 1:50! Now it was challenge time. Was I in some sort of parallel universe where I was capable of swimming a 1:50 consistently??? Nope, the whole set average 1:50. My longest being 1:55 and my fastest being 1:45! (nope that's not a typo) If I am in a parallel universe I hope to never wake up!

I had planned to do some sort of bike on Sunday but without and actual schedule and with a whole condo that needed to be shaken up and half the contents recycled, thrown out or reclaimed there were a few other thing on the agenda. I made about 20 trips up the three flights from the garbage room and back. But it's nearly done and I'm feeling much calmer.

Sadly the IG plan did arrive in my inbox and I cannot pretend that it simply doesn't exist. So tonight in-between more trips to the garbage room I have the following to contend with.

B 120-135 --> R 20
w/u and drills,
10x 6.5min/ 3.5min
then run

I have a slightly different take on the snow since it may be my last dump of the white stuff for a while.

What a breakthrough on your swim!! Great work!! Good luck on getting your bike workout done -- you can do it! It's like that article that Jenna posted -- the Line sometimes appears before us in training too, I think. Sometimes all you gotta do is knuckle down and getterdone. :) :)

oh, and nice - rub it in about no snow for a while. thppppt. then again, they get the odd dump. then you'll get to see vic come to a total halt.

just wait...the sicker i get of snow the more likely it is i will be sleeping on your couch for six months of the year so i can train outside all yearlong! LOL

That's the way it is with swimming. All of a sudden you can go further, or go faster, or sometimes both. It's a blast when it happens, and I'm so pleased it's happened for you.
