Oh what a weekend

Where to begin...

SO Saturday Lola and I packed up and headed out to Cochrane. It require a lot of gear/food/stuff to do a 3 hour ride and brick away from home!

I'll admit I was a little worried when I got down to Susi's Dungeon. Was I going to have to show my hamster too? I don't have the uber strength that Susi has for hours of alone biking time (also the sound of the trainer drives me crazy and I need something to drowned it out like LOUD ROCK MUSIC) But she put the radio on. The first hour flew by and second was a little painful and we both commented that we could feel out legs around the 2:45 mark and then hour 3 hit.... It was like time stood still. I kept trying not to click over from my HR to the clock but somehow I entered a universe where time was s-l-o-w-e-d (said like you slow down a record) It wasn't the company it was the pain and suffering of it all. We cheered when the clock hit 2:40 and it was time to cooldown! Time for a quick change and out for the brick. Susi took me on a loop of her neighbourhood, very cute little suburb. My calf's kept reminding me that they were there every uphill! Time to eat/stretch/shower (though not at the same time, that could be messy) and we headed into Cochrane for some treats and window-shopping. Also I purchased a very extravagant towel at the travel shop but I think it's going to radically change the size of my backpack on swim mornings. Look how teeny it folds down to! I picked up my groceries and I think I was out cold by 10:30 on Saturday night. As I crawled into bed I thought to myself sigh Party like a Triathlete

Sunday morning since I wasn't running. I had signed up to volunteer at the Policeman's half. I had to be there for 6:30 ouch! My body didn't want to move from the bed and violently protested the early hour. But then I found out I got a walkie-talkie and a police vest, SWEET! I headed out to my marshaling post and cranked up the music to a) annoyed the neighbours and b) entertain the runners.

Our little Susi at the start before she smoked her PB!!!

Watching everyone come in got my all PSYCHED for my half next weekend in Vancouver. I got home to change and headed out again to Cochrane to join some of Susi's Tri buddies on Horse Creek Loop. A pleasant 60km trip (57.89 but I round up!) I was pretty happy how I was feeling considering the Hours of Pain on Saturday. It was nice for me to be at the front of the pack instead of yelling at the boys to hold up! It was a perfect training weekend.

I also had time to make a sweet dinner. Salmon baked in Lemon Butter, grilled peppers on egg noodles. I was trying to recreate a meal from Solvang. I also made a batch of some awesome power bars. I'll post the recipe soon! I hope all of you had some time to enjoy the sun!

Sidebar: Keith you were so right about Susi's Abs of Steel! I was seriously indimidated!

Thanks so much for the cheering at the race too - you looked awesome in the glo vest!! I wish I could be in Van to return the favour and cheer you on! Hmmm, I should get the parental unit out there in my place!
